Italy having done the heavy lifting versus Germany, obviously Spain won. I’m not even sure whether you really should take football as a simile here. Monti did get somewhere with Merkel. But, oh dear, the British press is rather subdued about all this. One wonders why. God forbid that the “Banking” sector – let alone the “City” – has stopped briefing the media. Unless of course they briefed the media to stop harping on about them. Because suddenly they realised that – look, I’m crying – there wasn’t any profit in it?

Suddenly, the whole equation is beginning to change. That incestuous relationship between national banks and sovereignty – as Nucleus argued was one of the most stubborn vestiges of Member State power – is actually being divorced, in the Eurozone – not obviously for the Pound, but then again, who cares, the Pound is so strong, isn’t it, and the City is totally in control?

Here’s a prediction: Sure, the markets will have gone up … and guess what, tomorrow, the markets will have got wiser, and they’ll go down. So wise, so predictable those markets, aren’t they? They have taken John Rawls’ “A Theory of Justice” to a new level. Their “veil of ignorance” is nowadays so much a guiding principle that they have forgotten that first principle in the first place – think on it.

“It is common.” – “Why seems it so particular with thee?” – “Seems, madam? Nay it is. I know not “seems”.

From Hamlet’s point of view what is happening may indeed not be sexy to the “Agenda”, not the Media Agenda, not the Political agenda, not the Public Opinion Agenda. Get over it. There is no longer such a simple thing as a single “Agenda”, not a media, not a political, nor a public opinion one. There’s “Agendas” – multiple ones, fine, live with it!

But someone will have to deal with that eventually.

I suggest that the markets, the pundits, the banks, anyone even remotely connected to them – including the raft of financial journalists trying to make sense of it, sorry, but I don’t trust your world-view any longer, nor never have – stay out of this.

I equally suggest that any political pundit, think tank, so-called study service – more often than not “White Hat-Biased” – stay out of this as well.

I suggest that everyone gets back to basics on this: “Did it kick you like a sleep twitch?”

If it didn’t – fine, don’t bother.

If it did: “do something about it!”

Just think about the things you could do!

You could start others thinking about it , you could even, if you feel up to it – but I doubt you will – harass your bank about their apparently illegal selling practices; here’s an easy one when they try next time to sell you something: just resist with the message – “Where’s my bonus?”. If they still don’t get the message, then try “What’s my bonus, can I get that in writing?”

Just kick, twitch, even when sleeping.
